Project and Communications Specialist

Responsible for developing and maintaining digital assets for Downtown Garland, this position also supports the implementation of district projects.
The Specialist must be able to handle multiple tasks, prioritize projects, possess excellent customer service skills, enjoy working with the public, and be able to work effectively with volunteers and business representatives.
Target Hiring Range:
$42,500 - $54,500 salary will be commensurate with experience Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8a-5p, some nights and weekends required
Develop and maintain digital assets for Downtown Garland
Manage district website updates, changes, edits, content development
Develop and implement social media strategies and campaigns
Measure and report social media analytics and insights
Analyze campaign performance
Design and implement email marketing campaigns and content
Produce recurring district narratives including a quarterly newsletter and annual review
Provide project support, particularly in the areas of data collection, analysis, public outreach, and promotional events held in the downtown area.

Prepare agendas, minutes, written reports, presentations, communication, or correspondence on behalf of the Downtown Development Office.

Maintain a high degree of knowledge of Downtown Garland assets including restaurants, attractions, local events etc.
pertaining to the local and visitor experience.

Maintain downtown stakeholder databases including inventory of downtown properties.

Serve as staff lead to the downtown ambassadors, monitor, facilitate training and keep volunteer engagement at a high level of enthusiasm.

Supervise seasonal staff and Activation Coordinator in community engagement
Assist in the execution of special promotions sponsored by DDO such as events, meetings, and booths.

Foster partnerships with downtown stakeholders.

Provide customer service to visitors and downtown stakeholders.

Some office support or administrative functions including filing, organizing, researching and coordinating purchases, and assisting with overflow work, etc.
? Bachelors degree ? One year related experience Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Education/
Experience:

Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Administration, Public Relations, or similar field of study
At least four (4) years of marketing, communications, or district coordination experience
Experience working with small businesses and nonprofit organizations
Experience with website management such as WordPress or other Content Management Systems Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

General knowledge of the principles and practices of website management
Technical and communications skills, both oral and written
Proficient skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Ability to take on challenges and learn at a quick pace
Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time ? Valid Class C Texas driver's license The incumbent works in a typical office environment; relatively free from any environmental hazards or conditions.
Depending on the location of the internship, may be exposed to some unpleasant environmental conditions.
