Overview:
RDN will provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), per current accepted practice standards and participate as an active member of the nutrition care team for projects assigned.
This individual will facilitate optimal patient care in a pleasant, cohesive atmosphere for patients/significant others, staff, physicians, and others.
Qualifications:
BS degree in nutrition with a focus in dietetics (MS preferred) Current registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration Licensed by Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians Minimum 1-2 years clinical experience, with at least 1 year experience in renal nutrition required (CKD, dialysis, renal transplant).
Hospital in-patient RDNs with strong renal and transplant backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
Note:
This is not an entry-level position.
Candidates without renal experience will not be considered.
Although not required, certifications will be recognized, such as Board Certified in Renal Nutrition (CSR) or Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), and certification courses in renal nutrition areas from other professional organizations.
Candidate must complete specified CKD education modules before beginning clinical orientation.
Proof of completion needed.
Candidate will be evaluated for charting skills and renal nutrition knowledge/skills.
Additional continuing education may be requested to ensure familiarity with the most recent renal nutrition care guidelines.
Membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics - Renal Practice Group (AND-RPG) and/or National Kidney Foundation - Council on Renal Nutrition (NKF-CRN) preferred.
Computer literacy required.
Professional writing and public presentation skills needed.
Foreign language skills helpful.
