Welding Supervisor
Supervise the daily operations of the welding department.
Is a contributing member of the Production Team and attend all production meetings.
Supervise approximately 12 welders in the fabrication and repairs of metal and other material by applying appropriate welding techniques.
Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process.
Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.
Recommends engineering changes in material and application of parts in fabrication process.
Bi-lingual communication is a requirement as department predominate language is Spanish.
Requires 2-5 years of experience in the supervision of 10 to 15 welders engaged in the fabrication of metal.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the metal fabrication field.
Relies on experience and judgment to examine and make recommendation on quality control.
Performs a variety of tasks.
Reports to Production Manager and has authority of discipline up to but not including termination.
Process orders received from Engineering and assists through supervision the completion of welding and fabrication of parts or whole units.
o Assure order meets specification from a welding and fabrication perspective.
o Coordinates with small parts and welding helpers to develop order.
o Once order is complete notify the next department in the manufacturing process.
o Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
o Document all hours worked on assigned units and record on weekly time sheets and unit traveler.
o Ability to read measurements and determine square.
o Responsible for placement of all documentation (from welding department) being placed into traveler.
Documentation includes any modifications and missing parts.
o Works with Production Manager and Operation Office to assure welding production meets and exceeds expected delivery of products.
o Other duties as requiredRelationships and Roles:
o Insures that all orders are processed timely and accurately.
o Follow up on orders to ensure high levels of satisfaction and resolve any issues or concerns prior to transfer of unit to next step in manufacturing process.
o Continual training to improve welding and fabrication techniques and safety precautions.
o Demonstrates ability to interact and work closely with other depts.

Ability to operate, maneuver and/or steer equipment and machinery requiring simple but continuous adjustments such as fork lift, tape measure, piranha, computer terminal, telephone, calculator.
Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet and limbs in performing movements requiring skill and training, such as drawing, measuring and data entry.
Ability to exert required physical effort to perform moderate to heavy work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, shapes, sounds, odors and textures associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks.
